The Yeti 148 cm - Olive Veneer

During the last 6 years of crafting powder surfboards, I’ve played with several shapes, outlines and rockers. I’ve taken boards that work best and kept iterating on them. A bit longer, a wider nose, a bit more tail kick…
Even though all these boards do feel different and have different performance, they all share one thing: they are driven heavily from the back foot.
This year I really wanted to try something really new, something that genuinely felt and rode differently than all the boards that I've designed. Something that had more drive and forward focus, and that emphasized down the line speed and long rail turns.
The answer wasn't that far away. I just had to turn, one more time, to traditional surfboard design.
Enter “The Yeti”, a 160 cm long, low rocker, traditional surfboard outline with a wide point right under the front foot. The fastest, floatiest, long arch board I've shaped.
I knew I was into something while shaping this board, but I wasn't expecting to be that much blown away by the way it rides. At first, having the most aggressive edges further forward than usual felt a bit stiff. But once it picks up speed (and this happens really quick) the whole thing loosens up. Let it go fast and you are up for some proper long driving carves.
Sidecuts outlines are a standard in snowcraft, so trying a proper surfboard outline was a risky move. Still, I had an inner voice that kept saying “follow the road less traveled”. I’m glad I stayed true to the concept!
Because this board has no spoon on the nose, I made the first third of the board really thin. This creates a super flexible nose that wants to stay afloat no matter how deep.
